Category: Lync

There seems to be a Lync 2013 client problem with CU1. At least with the German x32 version of it. Powerpoint upload doesn’t work as expected since the installation of CU1. See the following screenshot: ppterror Everytime someone uploads a PowerPoint Presentation into a conference the presenter get the view above. Unusable for presentations. I’ve narrowed the problem down to the client CU1. If I deinstall the CU1 components, PowerPoint presentations work quite well. If I reinstall CU1 it starts to look like above. If I use the Lync 2010 client I also don’t have any problems. I’m using the German version of Lync 2013 client (15.0.4454.1506) MSO (15.0.4454.1504) 32-Bit on a 64-Bit Windows 8.

Edit: Lync 2013 CU2 did solve the problem.

Finally! The Lync Server 2013 CU1 is here:

The Lync client for the Windows 8 UI (formerly known as Metro) doesn’t seem to use DNS SRV records for the Exchange autodiscover.

A trace of the DNS querys at login only shows a lookup for autodiscover..

_autodiscover_.tcp. doesn’t seem to be queried even after a long waiting period.

For those who are using autodiscover SRV records (as my company) to publish Exchange autodiscover waiting for a patch seems to be the only option.

It’s not a bug, it’s a feature. The discovery method used has changed. An NextHop article describes the change quite well.

Push Notifications aren’t working right now? The Test-CsMcxPushNotification Commandlet throws an error 504?

Well until the 8. of October Microsoft put the service down:

Push Notification Service is down until Monday Oct 8 2012 due to service upgrades and maintenance

It is only availavble via the Office 365 preview page, as part of the Office 365 preview.

If you scroll down, you find a msi download link here:

There seems to be problems with the Test-CSPhoneBootstrap commandlet after installing the Lync Cumulative Update 6.

I’ve seen that problem at two of my customers, and there are threads about that in the technet forum.
